If you want to know and believe that it is God’s will to heal you, here are 3 healing quotes and scriptures that will strengthen your faith for healing.

As a Christian, you are probably quite sure that God is a healer and that He has the ability to heal everyone. What you may be unsure of is whether He will heal you. That’s a frustrating place to be because, on one hand, you are desperate for the pain or the issue to go away. And on the other hand, you are trying to be accepting of the idea that God may not want to heal you. It’s as though you are being pulled in two opposing directions.

The double-minded shouldn’t expect to receive

6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
James 1:6-8

Another translation voices verse 8 as ‘a double-minded man who is unstable in all his ways’. When you are desiring healing, yet accepting that God may not want you healed, you are in two minds; or double-minded. Imagine a wave of the sea, it doesn’t determine its course does it? As the wind blows, the wave then moves according to the direction of the wind. Verses 6 and 7 of the above passage explain that a person who is double-minded is just like that wave. Never firm in their belief or loyalty, but bobbing back and forth, forward and backwards – led by their circumstances.

Sadly, it is often wrong teaching that encourages this double-mindedness. Many of you, like myself, are familiar with teachings that say it’s not always God’s will to heal. Those teachings direct us to people like Job and the Apostle Paul, but short of those two there are rarely any further examples to demonstrate that God doesn’t always heal. Not to mention, Job was under a different covenant to us, and Paul’s thorn in the flesh was sent by Satan, not God. (I won’t go into this now, but I’d encourage you to do a bible study on the term ‘thorn in the flesh, or thorn in the side. God wants you well

Wanting God to heal, yet accepting the sickness will keep you in a place of frustration but it doesn’t have to be that way. If there’s one thing you need to take away from this post, it is that God wants you well! Let’s just say that again so that our hearts really hear it. God wants me well!

I too was swayed by the teaching that sickness could be a blessing from God. That sickness is God’s way of humbling us. It was when I realised that I couldn’t both believe God gives us sickness, whilst also desiring to be healed. I realised something wasn’t right and saw God’s truth in His word for myself.

Let’s use the story of Jesus healing the leper to demonstrate these healing quotes and scriptures.

When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Matthew 8:1-3

Healing Quote 1: Sickness and oppression come from the devil. Healing comes from Jesus.

Healing Quote 1: Sickness and oppression come from the devil. Healing comes from Jesus

Act 10:38 tells us that ‘God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Note that it says Jesus was healing people who were oppressed by the devil. If He was healing, then they must have been sick. And that sickness was oppression from the devil, not from God. The verse reveals that God anointed Jesus to do good and to heal all, and that God was with Him. Wrong teaching of healing will often say that God doesn’t always heal, or that sickness is a blessing from God. Act 10:38 leaves a clear line of distinction that the will of God the Father and Jesus the Son is to heal all. The plan of the enemy is to oppress.

Reflecting on Jesus’ encounter with the leper, Jesus didn’t have to heal Him. Nobody would have thought it wrong if Jesus shunned and rejected the leper. That was the custom of the day. However, when Jesus saw the leprosy, He knew that the man was ‘oppressed by the devil’. In Mark’s account of this story, we learn that Jesus was moved with compassion. His heart of love for this man was to pull him out of oppression and bring him into freedom, where leprosy didn’t rule his world. The leper was oppressed by the devil, but Jesus was present to heal.

Healing Quote 2: Jesus destroyed sickness on the cross, so you don’t have to be sick.

Healing Quote 2: Jesus destroyed sickness on the cross, so you don’t have to be sick

24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
1 Peter 2:24

Jesus purpose on this earth was to destroy the works of the devil. Now, Jesus accomplished that bit by bit as He walked this earth, for example when He healed the leper. But ultimately, Jesus destroyed the works of the devil in one go on the cross. That’s why after He had died, been buried and resurrected, the apostles could proclaim ‘you were healed’.

Whilst we rejoice that Jesus destroyed the works of the devil, we also must take the time to consider what those works were. Sickness is a work of the devil. Sickness entered the world as a result of the fall when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. So if sickness is a work of the devil and Jesus has destroyed the works of the devil, then sickness has no power over your body today.

I can hear the cogs turning in your mind saying, ‘but sickness is all over the world right now, how can you say Jesus has destroyed sickness?’ You’re right, sickness is unfortunately still very present in the world but it doesn’t have to be. Jesus has done His bit. He has destroyed its power. The problem is, we (the human race) still allow sickness to have power over us.

It’s already done. We just have to believe it

To help you understand, let’s consider Adam and Eve. They were made in the very image and likeness of God (Gen 1:26), but the devil came along and made them think that if they ate from the tree that God commanded them not to eat from, then they would be like God. Well, they were already like God, but the devil’s lies and deceit caused them to think they weren’t and that they had to do something to become like God.

What if it’s the same concerning your health. Healing is already yours. But the devil’s lies, deceit and symptoms cause you to think you’re not and that you have to do something to get it. It’s all a lie. Believing God has given you a sickness to humble you, is a lie! Feeling as though you haven’t behaved enough this week for God to heal you, is a lie! Thinking that God heals other sicknesses but not the one you’re facing, is a lie! (Read What Must I Do To Be Healed?)

Once Jesus had healed the leper, of course, he no longer needed to be sick. Jesus has also healed us and come to live on the inside of us. We too no longer have to be sick. Let’s learn to resist and say no to sickness.

Healing Quote 3: Jesus is always willing to heal

Healing Quote 3: Jesus is always willing to hea

Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matthew 8:3

Just prior to this verse, the leper enquired of Jesus whether He was willing to heal. Jesus’ response was that He was willing, and He backed up His words by touching the leper and releasing the life of Christ upon him.

Jesus is the exact copy of God the Father (Heb 1:3; John 14:9), so when Jesus expressed His willingness to heal, He was also demonstrating God’s willingness to heal us all.
